Consultation

If you’re interested in having your smile straightened with Invisalign, the first step is a complimentary assessment to determine if this treatment method is right for you. Invisalign is a very versatile treatment but it can’t solve every orthodontic problem. We also must consider your lifestyle and whether you will be able to wear your aligners for the recommended 22 hours a day. At Clear Orthodontic Studio we’ll answer any questions you may have about this treatment method, such as how long it will take to correct your misaligned teeth, and explain the costs involved, which are generally about the same as the cost of getting traditional braces.

Following a free consultation, the next step is to scan your mouth. We will map out the structure of your teeth and gums in just minutes using our iTero Element Scanner and send the scans off to Invisalign Australia for analysis.

Using his extensive training and experience, Dr Ash creates a digital treatment plan for you using Invisalign’s ClinCheck software, which calculates exactly how much force needs to be applied to your teeth and in what order they need to move. This will allow us to provide you with a treatment schedule and series of aligners that are perfectly customised to your needs. Once we are satisfied, we will place an order for aligners with your specifications.

Once your aligners arrive from Invisalign Australia you can pick them up from our Cottesloe clinic. The aligners should fit right over the teeth and “snap” into place. If you’re getting SmartForce attachments, we will fix them to your teeth prior to inserting the first aligner. Your treatment has now begun!
Every aligner is different, and we’ll let you know how often you should change them. As your treatment progresses, each new aligner will straighten your teeth a little more. You can take out an aligner when necessary, such as for eating and brushing your teeth, but otherwise you should basically always be wearing one.

During your treatment we will set up your regular appointments depending on your plan and our remote-monitoring app.

It will typically take between three and twenty-four months for your aligners to work their magic, depending on the complexity. After wearing your last aligner for two weeks your treatment may very well be complete, but occasionally a few teeth will still need adjusting. We’ll inspect your teeth and, if necessary, order a few more “refinement” trays from Invisalign to take care of any lingering issues.

Once your treatment is complete we will provide you with a retainer to wear at night. This gives the bones of your jaw time to solidify around your new teeth positions. You should continue to wear your retainer at night, just to make sure your teeth don’t shift.
